My name is Roman, Welcome to my Lab.

I love building things: be it Circuits, 3D printing my own designs or coding until the sun rises.

Music is my escape and I built my own headphones (Mr. Speakers Open Alphas) and Headphone Amps too (nwavguy’s Objective 2).

Record Scratch

It all started when my Grandfather introduced young me to these little Soldering Kits. Those were mostly adjustable Timers that would toggle a relay with screw terminal connections. Still fun to solder! Also, all were Through Hole Components!

For Christmas, Child-Me got some awesome Electronics 200-in-1 Kits. The instruction booklet featured a robot and engineer traveling across space!

Often my mother would get angry at me for taking apart perfectly good and working appliances. Re-assembly was never guaranteed.

This turned into me learning Eagle EDA, designing little circuits and etching them in Copper Chloride via the toner transfer method (as a kid mind you). Exposing UV Mask that came pre-applied to Copper Clad Board, never produced great results.

That’s when I realized that EDA Software is just a fancy drawing program. It’s just a couple Layers and very strong rules on how you are allowed to paint the traces. The rules are more so enforced when you make or get your design made.

I eventually migrated from Eagle to EasyEDA (by LCSC, has great BOM integration!) and a couple of years ago tried KiCad and never looked back. I occasionally think about looking back though.

At some point I also got into programming and later got a 3D Printer too.

I have many Interests, but for me, it’s all about finding knowledge to absorb. I like getting down into the nitty-gritty details, down to the truth. This website was built mostly for me, and friends, as a kind of knowledge-base about everything.

Honorable Mentions

Here is a somewhat unordered list of great Educators, that lead me to be the person I am today. These are great sources of Knowledge, mostly in Video form, with the occasional entertainer in between.

Electronics

Electronics is my true calling. I practically grew up with some of those channels!

Education

The sheer tinyness of Integrated Electronics, the Elegance of Mathematics, and Engineering the World we live in.

Programming

Programming itself is an abstraction.

Linux & Homelabbing

Linux is unescapable. It’s everywhere. (In my Home)

3D Printing

Being able to print anything out of cheap, available plastic, reliably is insanity.

Cooking

I enjoy cooking, but not as much as then sharing the cooked with others.

Body Building

Getting compliments for my body was unthinkable before 2022.
